Our philosophy here at the Whey Cafe is to offer simple, sustainable food: responsibly grown, seasonally harvested, cooked with love and eaten with heart and an appreciation for good, honest flavours. We support local growers and producers wherever possible, and our adjacent Dairy Store enables you, our customer, to taste and purchase a wide range of Australian cheeses, our homemade country jams and chutneys, and many of the delicious products we feature on our menu. We have a kitchen garden in Burradoo to supply the cafe with homegrown herbs and vegetables, heirloom raspberries, rhubarb and strawberries in season
We safeguard our environment by choosing paper bags, and recyclable or biodegrable packaging for our products: all recyclable waste is taken to the Moss Vale Resource Centre for recovery: and food waste is composted in our kitchen garden. Much of our quirky decor and crockery came from local op shops and the Reviva Centre, or is 'upcycled' from discarded items. Reduce, reuse, recycle, rejoice!
Food has a special ability to bring people together. There are few occasions more joyful than sharing food and laughter around a communal table spread with delicious, wholesome food. Bring your family and friends together around our tables to enjoy a grazing platter from our cheese counter, or take afternoon tea together in The Parlour
You don't have to travel far in the beautiful Southern Highlands to find the very best in food and wine. We showcase these premium local ingredients on our daily menus : try a crisply toasted sourdough sandwich oozing melted vintage cheddar, a fluffy baked Robertson potato filled with cultured butter or one of our airy scones served with our homemade jam and thick cream. Take home some cheeses, olives, chutney and crackers from the Dairy Store or pop next door into the gelaterie to taste our amazing SoHi Gelato made on site from local Highlands Organic milk. Simply delicious!
